CertainPath was founded in 1999 with a clear mission: To positively impact the lives of independent contractors through our proven business model, proprietary tools & systems, and expert training & coaching. At least, that’s the formal explanation of who we are. Ask us what we really are, and we’ll boil it down a bit: We build successful home service businesses.

We’re driven to help contractors achieve their dreams, whatever they may be.

Among CertainPath’s first employees were Rebecca and Lon Cassel. They helped launch and nurture each of the four affinity groups that comprised Success Group International: AirTime Success International™ (ASI), Electricians’ Success International™ (ESI), Plumbers’ Success International™ (PSI), and Roofers’ Success International™ (RSI).

In 2014, Rebecca and Lon formed Aquila Investment Group and purchased SGI and made it the largest member-owned “best practices” group in the contracting industry.  And today, SGI has evolved to CertainPath.

CertainPath is member-owned because Rebecca and Lon are members—they own Castle Home Comfort in Champaign, Illinois.  Among their partners in Aquila are several SGI members and employees—several of whom own and operate some of the most successful contracting companies in North America. All our owners have incredible success stories, and all give thanks to CertainPath as a critical part in becoming who they are today.

The difference you feel with CertainPath extends beyond our model and tools—those are just some of the ingredients. We’re unique thanks to our members. Come to an Expo and be welcomed with open arms. The Beginning – VenVest, Inc.

VenVest, Inc. is officially formed as the first parent company and establishes its headquarters in St. Louis, MO.

1999
The Start of Focusing on Independent Contractors
The Start of Focusing on Independent Contractors

Contractors Services is launched as part of VenVest to serve the needs of contractors, and Plumbers’ Success International is created as its first group to serve plumbing business owners.

2000
Adding HVAC to the Mix
Adding HVAC to the Mix

A year later, we added a group to support independent HVAC business owners with the launch of AirTime Success International (formerly AirTime 500).

2004
Electricians are added and Success Group International (SGI) is formed
Electricians are added and Success Group International (SGI) is formed

Electricians' Success International is formed to serve electrical contractors, and Contractors Services officially rebrands as Success Group International to serve the needs of independent business owners across the home services trades.

2005
Roofers are added and Clockwork Home Services is formed.
Roofers are added and Clockwork Home Services is formed.

Roofers are added to the Success Group International family, and Clockwork Home Services is formed to bring together SGI, Success Academy, BuyMax and the franchises of Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning, and Mister Sparky Electric, under one name.

2010
Clockwork Home Services is Acquired
Clockwork Home Services is Acquired

Clockwork Home Services and its brands are purchased by Centrica/Direct Energy and the headquarters moves from St. Louis to Sarasota, FL.

2014
SGI Regains Its Independence
SGI Regains Its Independence

Rebecca Cassel, Lon Cassel, and other investors purchase SGI from Direct Energy and restore its focus on the independent contractor rather than franchises. Rebecca becomes President of SGI.

Learning Alliance Trains SGI Members

Learning Alliance is formed to serve the training needs of the SGI member companies.

Partner Network forms SGI’s Buying Group
Partner Network forms SGI’s Buying Group

The Partner Network officially launches to connect members with vendor partners across their industries.

Relocating to Dallas, TX

To get closer to some of our members and make travel to our headquarters easier for training and events, SGI relocates its headquarters to the Dallas metro area.
